Background info: Faith is the youngest of the four children of two people who managed to survive a threat that had both terrorized the world from the shadows for several millennia and personally threatened their continued existence. Her parents desperately wanted their children to live peaceful lives and experience things they themselves were denied, and their well-meaning desire led to overprotectiveness. Each child they've had has been more overprotected than the last, with Faith experiencing the most coddling. This, on top of the protectiveness of her siblings, has led Faith to be extremely frustrated with it all. Now that she's nineteen years old -- an adult in the eyes in society -- she desperately wants to be treated her age.
While there have certainly been issues with coddling, it seems her parents have very much succeeded in their wish for their children to live normal lives, and Faith is no exception. She has a part-time job and goes to a nearby community college, a rather average scenario for someone her age. As far as she knows, there's nothing weird or abnormal about her parents. While they're elementals -- magical beings who have power over a singular element -- that's not too strange for her world, and while they both look pretty young for their ages, Faith's always chalked that up to both of them having good genetics. She's never had any reason to suspect that her life is or could ever be anything but average, if not extremely sheltered and kind of boring, despite her secret desire for something more. Still, her parents' attempts to protect them couldn't last forever, and they didn't.
Suddenly, things begin to change in her life. Her brother, Tobias, has been acting strangely whenever he comes home to visit. Her eldest sister Joan has been more on guard than usual during her own visits, somehow timed to perfectly line up with Tobias'. It's been causing a certain amount of tension whenever the family's together -- even her parents seem to always talk in hushed whispers about the possibility of "Aero" making a return, whoever that is. On top of it all, everyone's refused to clue her in on what's going on and pretends everything is as it's always been.
When Faith decides to try to get to the bottom of things, she's beaten to the punch. After a particularly heated argument between her brother and her parents, Tobias ends up attacking both them and Joan. Their sister Abigail quickly grabs Faith and flees into the night with her, offering an explanation with the limited knowledge she possesses: Tobias is the reincarnation of a very ancient and dangerous being -- the "Aero" being whispered about -- and their parents' attempts to protect him from this truth has failed. In one night, Faith's life turns upside down, and it doesn't take long for things to get stranger and more distressing.
In no time at all, Abigail and Faith discover that the fault of Tobias discovering the truth lies on a group of people who loyally follow the ancient being to this day. They wish to convince Tobias to give up his existence to awaken the slumbering remains of the ancient being within him and subsequently revive him. In the following months, Faith realizes that while she always craved adventure and freedom, she doesn't and never did want it like this, a struggle shared by her and her sister to figure out a way to talk down her brother before the group gets their way while also avoiding being captured by them.
Personality info: Faith possesses some of the best traits of her parents: she's passionate, outgoing, bubbly, friendly and energetic like her mother, but also approachable, compassionate, sweet and idealistic like her father. However, she also can be a tad impish, and though she never has truly malicious intentions, this can be taken in a way she doesn't mean it to be. This includes friendly teasing that can, on occasion, go a little too far without her meaning it to. She's also hotheaded, and while she certainly tries to see issues from all sides, she can't help but be opinioned sometimes. She truly wants to help others, but she has a tendency to be too pushy and overbearing with her attempts and has a problem with backing off when asked. While she's learned to at least pretend to put up with being treated with kid gloves by people she knows intimately, she can be pretty snippy to strangers who do the same. Still, she's an ultimately kind person, and overall she's pretty well adjusted for someone who's been a tad on the sheltered side her whole life, if not a bit of a brat.
Ability info: The daughter of two elementals, Faith was bound to be an elemental herself, and she's the only child of the four to have inherited her father's earth and nature-based abilities instead of her mother's wind-based ones. This pleases her, and she's devoted a lot of time to mastering her ability to create small rocks, heal people and create/accelerate the growth of plant life ever since her abilities first showed themselves. Creation/acceleration of plant life and small rocks doesn't take much out of her, but healing can exhaust her if the injury she's attempting to heal is too severe.
